(Press Release) -- Micralyne Inc., a world-leading manufacturer of MEMS based industrial components, reports success penetrating the emerging MEMS market in Asia. Building on its position as one of the largest independent MEMS foundries in North America, Micralyne has successfully extended its reach to Asia by serving market leading companies in Japan and China.
While only active in Japan for three years, over 10% of Micralyne’s revenue now comes from that market. Due to Japan’s vast industrial base, even more growth is expected in the coming years. In particular, the country’s massive automotive, industrial control and telecommunications industries are all expected to drive demand for MEMS-based components.
Many aspects of Micralyne’s success in Japan can be attributed to its partnership with Adamant Kogyo Co. Ltd., an established technology company who serves as Micralyne’s business partner in Asia. Adamant manufactures components for optical communications, semiconductors, video and medical equipment and has been in operation since 1957. Adamant has built a solid foundation serving the electronics industry throughout Asia and its reputation has been a precursor of Micralyne’s success.
“Micralyne’s relationship with Adamant has allowed us to bridge the communication and cultural barriers that sometimes arise between companies operating both in Japan and North America,” stated Chris Lumb, President and CEO of Micralyne. “Partnering with Adamant has proven to be an excellent strategy as we were able to bypass these challenges from the beginning. We look forward to further expanding our business in Japan and building an even stronger relationship with Adamant.”
“We are pleased to be Micralyne’s representative in Asia,” said Mr. Ryuichi Furuichi, President of Adamant. “We see tremendous growth opportunities in Japan and the Micralyne-Adamant partnership allows us to offer the most effective solution for customers requiring development and volume manufacturing of MEMS-based products.”
Micralyne is also serving emerging companies in China. Both China and Taiwan are projected to be significant and growing sources of revenue for Micralyne in the next three to five years. This growth is being driven by the emerging industrial and consumer base in China as well as the demand for MEMS in next generation telecommunications and consumer electronics products.
ABOUT MICRALYNE: Micralyne develops and manufactures microfabricated and MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems)-based products. Micralyne is one of the largest independent companies in the world that manufactures MEMS in high volumes. MEMS technology is built on the premise of making industrial components smaller, faster and less expensive and facilitates radical improvements in the miniaturization of electronic and mechanical devices. These types of devices are used in many industries including communications, automotive, aerospace, and life sciences. More specifically, Micralyne’s micron-scale solutions (i.e. 1000 microns = 1 millimetre) are found in automotive emission sensors, optical switching technology in telecommunication networks, lab-on-a-chip devices for drug discovery, and commercial press equipment for printing today’s most popular magazines. Micralyne is a profitable and growing company headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. www.micralyne.com
