Innovative Micro Technology (IMT), announced this week that Craig Ensley has joined IMT as President and CEO effective immediately. He succeeds Dr. John Foster, who is resigning from the company to become the CEO of one of IMT's major customers. Mr. Ensley brings over 30 years of executive leadership and semiconductor industry experience to IMT. "We're delighted to have Craig on board," commented Jose Suarez, an IMT Board Director. "Over the last decade MEMS has emerged as a mainstream technology and now represents one of the highest growth areas in the electronics industry. Craig's track record leading high growth entrepreneurial companies is a great addition to the company, and will build upon IMT's solid foundation as the leading MEMS manufacturer in the United States."
"I am thrilled to be joining the IMT team," said Mr. Ensley. "IMT has one of the most elite MEMS development teams in the world and has grown to become the largest pure-play MEMS manufacturer in the US. The company is strongly positioned in a number of high growth markets and is well established at customers who are leading emerging applications of MEMS technology. It is really an exciting time to be in the MEMS market. I look forward to being part of the IMT team as we take the firm to the next level."
Before joining IMT, Mr. Ensley was most recently the CEO of DisplayLink Corporation, a video networking IC company. Previously, he served as President and COO of Peregrine Semiconductor, a supplier of RF integrated circuits, where he led the transition of the firm from a research stage to a high volume supplier. Earlier, Mr. Ensley was a senior vice president at Cirrus Logic, helping the company to restore profitability by repositioning it to be a world-class supplier of high performance analog ICs. Prior to Cirrus, Mr. Ensley held positions as general manager and vice president of marketing at Crystal Semiconductor, a successful venture-backed startup. Mr. Ensley began his career at Rockwell International, where he helped start its communications semiconductor business.
John Foster, Ph.D., the founding CEO of IMT, has joined as the CEO of Owl Biomedical, Inc., a recently formed life sciences company employing MEMS to develop a cutting edge, high speed, disposable cell sorter for cell therapy, cell-based diagnostics and life sciences research. "I am very proud of IMT's accomplishments over the last twelve years" stated Dr. Foster. "It is the right time to hand the reins to a leader such as Craig as he brings a wealth of experience that will help IMT grow to an enterprise-class operation."
IMT is a leader in the production and development of MEMS devices and is the largest pure-play MEMS foundry in the United States. Established in 2000, IMT designs, manufactures, tests and supplies products to the RF, biotech, biomed, optical communications, infrared, navigation and general markets servicing Fortune 500 companies as well as startups.
